Suddenly gone very dark here and a rumble of thunder

I'm in Dublin and I've just had to turn a light on in this room. I'm hoping for a good downpour as otherwise I might have to water the hydrangeas myself and the hose doesn't reach that far.

In Somerset. Just had a couple of rumbles and a bit of rain. The sky looks to be brighten up now though.

AlternativelyWired · 19/07/2022 15:49

Humph, none up here on the edge of the Peak District. Was 39 earlier. Now 38.4

Notnowbarnaby · 19/07/2022 15:49

I am so jealous, in south east England. Please let it come this way!

MyNameIsAngelicaSchuyler · 19/07/2022 15:50

Downpour in north Bristol!!! The relief!

Stop it. You're giving me rain envy.

BiddyPop · 19/07/2022 15:54

I'm in Dublin too, it was a cracking burst of energy for a few minutes at lunch. VERY loud thunder. But only a few bursts (maybe 10 minutes max, and no closer than about 5 miles out).

Apparently it was worse in Dun Laoghaire, and had worked it's way up the Irish Sea and just sort of fizzled out over Dublin.

It's still very hot though. (To me, feels like mid-20s, but not as hot or muggy as yesterday which was 28 degrees).

GoT1904 · 19/07/2022 15:56

So jealous. My car was registering 44 degrees with Aircon on just now on the school run. We're not even in the red zone but the amber zone.

Blackdiame · 19/07/2022 15:57

There's lightening on the radar about 10 miles away from here and we've just had a quick downpour for 15 minutes which i stood out in the rain buts it's over now. Its a bit cooler but I expect the humidity to rise to make it uncomfortable again.

Badger1970 · 19/07/2022 15:57

Very dark sky here brewing in North Gloucestershire.

Longing for it to drop, it was 36.5 when I left work. Dogs are very unhappy at being confined indoors.

PinkButtercups · 19/07/2022 16:02

SE and it's gone dark. It better rain.

tiredanddangerous · 19/07/2022 16:05

Send it my way please! It's 39 here and I'm melting

DorritLittle · 19/07/2022 16:06

Grey sky on the south coast...

Justme10 · 19/07/2022 16:09

In the west of Scotland, it's been raining for about 20 minutes and we've had thunder and lightning.
The air coming through the window is much cooler already.

fussychica · 19/07/2022 16:10

West Wilts. Went dark, bit of thunder, 20 seconds of rain, now brightening up.

Magicpaintbrush · 19/07/2022 16:11

Please send some rain our way - we are in north kent and was 41°c on the school run this afternoon. Can't work because my computer is overheating. Keep having to put my mobile phone in the fridge at intervals to cool it down. We are slowly melting here.

Wineat5isfine · 19/07/2022 16:11

South east…40 degrees…it’s so stifling, it’s hard to breathe!

please send rain…..

Vapeyvapevape · 19/07/2022 16:13

My car says it's 42 degrees here, snow would be great but I'll settle for a good downpour!

I’m hoping for a good downpour here in the next few days, the garden is parched.

I’m counting down the hours till 9pm when the temperature is meant to drop to 21 degrees here so I can get the windows open and get some fresh air through the house.

Meant to drop to around 23 degreees here around 1am.
I got sent home from work early today as it was just too hot indoors. Got in and went to bed - I only managed about 3 hours sleep last night.

RockandRollsuicide · 19/07/2022 16:34

People who are hot it maybe too late now but stoping the sun from hitting windows really does work!

lurchermummy · 19/07/2022 16:34

Bring it on / Cotswolds no sign of it yet

SeaGrassMirror · 19/07/2022 16:36

Norfolk- not a cloud in the sky and stupidly hot still!

Maggiesgirl · 19/07/2022 16:36

We have rain here at Stonehenge. Yayyyyyy

SurreyMumOfOne · 19/07/2022 16:38

Oooh - storms in hot temps - it will be like being somewhere tropical. I hope it comes here.
