I can’t click my fingers. I’ve tried many years but I can’t click.

I can whistle. Not very well but I can.

I cannot touch my toes without bending my knees. Never been able to

Hula hooping.

haveyouopenedyourbowelstoday · 18/07/2022 19:15

Whistle. Roll my r's. Play chess.

pantsofshame · 18/07/2022 19:15

Another who has never been able to do a handstand or cartwheel. The suggestion that I should is much rarer now that I'm middle aged than when I was in primary school and all the other girls did them in the playground!

I also can't play tennis (or any other sport with any kind of racquet or bat). By that I don't mean I can't play it well- I mean the only time I hit the ball (other than very very occasionally happening to be in the path of the ball by chance) is when it's my serve. There have been a few holidays/work away days where someone has suggested a game and no-one has ever believed that I genuinely can't play at all- until they see

Mommabear20 · 18/07/2022 19:16

Whistle
Roll my Rs

MyneighbourisTotoro · 18/07/2022 19:17

Oh I also can’t do handstands, forward rolls, backward rolls, cartwheels etc!

I can’t swim

Paul72 · 18/07/2022 19:18

I can't grip anything between my thumb and fingers on my right hand. This means I can't hold a knife "properly"

I've been told it is because I had polio as a baby over 70 years ago.

ComDummings · 18/07/2022 19:19

Eat in moderation. I’m either starving myself or binge eating in cycles. It is exhausting.

thistimelastweek · 18/07/2022 19:21

Anything involving manual dexterity.

Houseofboys22 · 18/07/2022 19:21

Pour milk into a cuppa with my right hand (despite being right handed for everything else in my entire life)!

ElephantGrey101 · 18/07/2022 19:21

Hello to everyone else who has dyspraxia!

I can’t drive, ride a bike, play any sport, I have never been able to do a handstand or cartwheel ( fortunately as an adult this is no Lon and expectation).

Headbandheart · 18/07/2022 19:22

Ok, contenscious one here
i am one of a huge number of people who cant

  1. use standard scissors

  2. use standard can openers

  3. write easily in a notebook or ring binder

  4. Use a normal crochet or knitting pattern

  5. Sit and work at standard pedestal desks

  6. play a standard guitar

  7. Use single edge peelers

  8. use single edge fish knives

I am left handed. The world is often back to front for us.

Em1151 · 18/07/2022 19:22

Make an omelette without it becoming scrambled eggs!

Plasmodesmata · 18/07/2022 19:22

Ride a bike, tell left from right, catch a ball, ice skate, basically anything that requires coordination.

greenbirdsong · 18/07/2022 19:23

I can't close one eye and keep the other one open. Meaning I can never do eyeliner or false lashes as both my eyes close and I can't see what I'm doing!

I also can't use a fork and a spoon at the same time (as in, one in each hand). I just can't seem to get the co-ordination of it!

I also can't whistle.

sunglassesonthetable · 18/07/2022 19:24

know my left and right

Soubriquet · 18/07/2022 19:29

Swim

same and neither has ever been a problem.

I can’t swim

me either, have never been able to do any of those or climb a gym rope, walk a balance beam or vault even using a spring board. Luckily my schoole were quite advznced in their thinking and us non gym types could choose other activities like yoga.

melmos · 18/07/2022 19:33

Also left handed. I learnt to use normal scissors in my right hand tjough

Deadringer · 18/07/2022 19:36

I can't blow bubbles with bubblegum, hoola hoop, or roller skate. This was a much bigger deal when I was a teenager. Oh and I can't see pictures in my head.

Clevs · 18/07/2022 19:36

Wheelie.

Karistraveller · 18/07/2022 19:38

I can only wink with my left eye and as I'm right handed I thought it would be my right one .

goldfinchonthelawn · 18/07/2022 19:40

Drive
Leapfrog, cartwheel, handstands - not even as a child
Catch a ball, or anything thrown at me.
Sing in tune or whistle

I don't really want to keep listing, to be honest. It would take up half the thread! I'm a fairly malfunctioning human who fails at most basic life skills but happens to be good at one thing that is in-demand enough to keep me employable. And DH and DC love me. That's all I need.

I can click my fingers though! Grin

mizzo · 18/07/2022 19:41

Loads of things!
Eat without spilling unless I cut things into minuscule pieces,
Ditto drinks, I use straws a lot and even then I end up spilling,
Ditto cleaning I'm always ruining clothes with bleach,
Learn my times tables, I can remember songs and poems from my childhood word perfect but some of the tables just won't stick. In fact loads of maths evades me,
Poach, fry or boil eggs,
Cook rice,
Cook the right amount of anything,
Batch cook-see above,
Wink my right eye,
Raise one eyebrow,
Throw and catch,
Do swimming breathing,
Concentrate when loads of people are talking or in a big group when one person is talking- I zone out and miss things,
Visualise things,
Concentrate on tasks without headphones in,
Drive- the zoning out doesn't help,
Read just a chapter of a book I have to read it all in a day or two or it bugs the life out me.
