… and hand out free ice creams (well, not free, I’m paying obviously). I thought people might like it but I didn’t realise quite HOW excited they would get! I guess everyone just loves a flake 99 🤣

That's so lovely of you!

YellowLemonshade · 18/07/2022 13:04

You are lovely

SausagePourHomme · 18/07/2022 13:08

I'm on my way over Grin

What a great idea! We flew to the U.S. a few years ago with Virgin Atlantic; it was a very dull flight until the cabin crew started handing out choc ices. Such a little thing but people perked up and started chatting to their neighbours

We used to love getting a choc ice on Virgin flights, the last few times we’ve flown with them though (2018 and 2019, can’t remember if we got them in 2016) they’d stopped doing it. So disappointing!

What a lovely thing to do OP!

coffeecupsandfairylights · 18/07/2022 13:13

Aw, I love this!

My old manager used to do this when I was employed - it's amazing how such a small gesture can make such a big difference!

Crinkle77 · 18/07/2022 13:15

I work at a University and we have a free ice cream sometimes. Staff love it just as much as students 😋

ReneBumsWombats · 18/07/2022 13:16

What industry are you in?

Newnormal99 · 18/07/2022 13:17

Mildmanneredmum · 18/07/2022 12:50

How did you do it? I've just Googled and can't find the right thing!

Facebook is your friend. We have a couple of vans you can pre book.

Maireas · 18/07/2022 13:18

You are an excellent boss and I wish I worked for you!

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 18/07/2022 13:20

Aww lovely idea. My old work did this too with getting a van round. My current work in emergency services provide us sun cream, bottles of water and ice pops. It's so hot when we're outside in full uniform.

WireSkills · 18/07/2022 13:20

We often used to buy ice creams in our old un-airconditioned office. We used to have a freezer, which helped, as we could stock up on boxes of the things in Iceland and people could just help themselves.

There's no freezer in the new office, but there is A/C, thank goodness. I've actually seen people wandering around with jumpers and wraps on today. I did go and buy a whole load of drinks for the fridge though for those that have come to work by public transport or walked. We gave everyone the choice of whether they wanted to come in or WFH, but some have come in.

You're right though OP - it really is the little things that keep staff happy sometimes! We did a treasure hunt a while ago and I got everyone little bags of chocolate coins as a prize. The look of delight on their faces at an 89p bag of chocolate!

Lovely job, OP. Doing God’s work.

I’ve just shared a twister lolly with my dog. Happy days

IsoIsobaby20 · 18/07/2022 13:40

My husband has just been to the Dr's and they had one for the staff. He bought us both one and brought me one home and I was so happy!

I'd work for you forever if you did that.

TuftyMarmoset · 18/07/2022 13:46

Aw that’s lovely! You do remember when a boss does something like this. At a previous job my boss once came back after lunch with boxes of magnums and kept thrusting them at us as we didn’t have a freezer so had to eat them all then and there 😆

Fab idea

I see what you did there 😉

Pleeeaassee, can I come and work for you??
You're the kind of boss I need.

Aloebee · 18/07/2022 13:51

Our care home does this every year for staff and residents it's really appreciated

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 18/07/2022 13:58

In our old office (architects) when it was really hot a few years ago, me and the receptionist would often pop out to the corner shop/Tesco Metro for ice lollies/ice creams/Cornettos. Was much appreciated and just taken out of petty cash.

gabsdot · 18/07/2022 13:58

We do that in my job every now and then and people love it.

Slightly different but I used to work in Spitalfields just as it was being redeveloped. The accountant liked me and the receptionist and would regularly bring us Patisserie Valerie cream cakes. Cake Certainly was appreciated.

Thatsenoughnow · 18/07/2022 14:01

Are you recruiting? 😆

A few years ago I was temping in a government office and brought in Cadburys Mini Eggs and Galaxy Mini Eggs and some Creme Eggs. Went down very well! I was leaving around the same time too.

AdoraBell · 18/07/2022 14:06

Fabulous, well done. Do you have any vacancies?

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 18/07/2022 14:15

We had one given as a thank you from a teaching agency. Was so looking forward to it, but it got nabbed to go to the leavers event.
