A friends relative is returning after living in Spain for over 20 years. They retired there after working extremely hard all their life in the U.K., beyond retirement age. Always paid full taxes and NHS contributions. Sold everything and moved there.
They are elderly, very unwell, some acute medical issues that are now very much a big issue.
Fast forward to now. They do not have a penny to their name, had been relying on neighbours and friends for food but didn’t tell any of them how bad things are. They haven’t paid rent for over a year, now being evicted.
Now coming back to the U.K., family have clubbed together for flight money. They are going to be staying in a family members house on the sofa.
What can be done do you know to help them find somewhere suitable to live?
Obviously they need to sort out health issues first but to be honest, due to self neglect, I think whatever is wrong may be too far gone to treat now.
