What sort of thing do you want in a corner of a garden

We have a secluded corner of our garden that I am trying to tidy up and make nicer
I already have a little bench for sitting but what else would be good?

well-chosen, and dignified, gnome.

Perfectlystill · 15/07/2022 23:45

Dignified!! Love it @secludedgarden

A grassy path to this secret idyll. A couple of nice planters with bedding plants in cool simple colours. Plain white pansies? A little foot stool to use as either a foot stool or a small table to stop me knocking a chilled g and t over.

If it's secluded I'd probably want to put a compost heap there 😄 . Or what about a small pond?

mathanxiety · 15/07/2022 23:54

What sort of light does the secluded corner get? Any trees?

JamMakingWannaBe · 15/07/2022 23:55

A fountain.

HeddaGarbled · 15/07/2022 23:56

Flowers.

HauntingScream · 15/07/2022 23:59

A hammock

Lol at gnome. Maybe
It's surrounded on two sides by evergreen hedges
And on a third by a native scrappy hedgerow
Not much room for trees.
Have a couple of small borders but it's a bit shady and they aren't super well established

Maybe a chimnea thing?

A fountain.

I dis consider this but it's so tucked away from the garden that it seems a shame to "hide" one
Also the noise makes me need the loo 😂

A bird feeder? So you can sit and watch them.

Another vote for hammock.
Table/stool for your wine glass.
The swing seats from the 80s seem to be having a bit of a revival.
small firepit for marshmallow toasting.
Fairy door!

waltzingparrot · 16/07/2022 00:17

Definitely a string of solar lights

Davros · 16/07/2022 00:19

A bar obviously

ErrolTheDragon · 16/07/2022 00:20

Scented plants - eg honeysuckle in the hedgerow, maybe have pots you can move seasonally with others eg sweet box in late winter/early spring

mathanxiety · 16/07/2022 01:49

Do you have room to put up a pergola?

You could grow a scented vine up and above you. Underneath I would put some crushed granite, all weather seating, and urn-style planters of various heights. A chiminea would be nice too,

If the area is shaded, a hydrangea could look beautiful. Watch the size and make sure it has a long flowering time.
