As the title says!

I really like her. She's straight-talking, has had a real job, isn't slagging everyone else off, and has clearly worked for everything she has.

The only downside for me would be her lack of politics experience. But I'm sure she could hire the right people to help her if she became PM.

I think their real fear is knowing that a brilliant young woman taking the conservative fight out to the electorate and in doing so reconnecting her party with the true notion of Conservatism, would bring about another Tory landslide.

The colour of her skin as academic and she doesn't play on it. That's her true crime, in their eyes.

Does not play on her skin colour? Whatever that means, strange thing to say.

Ticksallboxes · 15/07/2022 19:56

She's coming across brilliantly in the Ch4 debate. Way more steely and dynamic than PennyM IMO.

I'd love to see her as PM.

MarshaBradyo · 15/07/2022 19:57

She’s speaks incredibly well

She has a wonderful energy and considering she has the least experience she outshines the others.

alwayslearning789 · 15/07/2022 20:03

She is brilliant in many ways and I respect her journey so far.

However, she'd be on a hiding to nothing - so Top 5 is a respectable ending.

She won't be the next PM.

Ticksallboxes · 15/07/2022 20:07

Ah. Just read about her proposals...

Oh dear.

Lonelycrab · 15/07/2022 20:15

It seems to me she wants to concentrate on what she sees as vital education. I think that's something most people would agree with

Its incredibly patronising to think one person can single-handedly come in, Jesus style, fire a load of people, cut budgets even further and then somehow make things better.
It just doesn’t add up.

QuattroFromagio · 15/07/2022 20:24

not at all. I would very much like non-vital education to be a part of schools and education experience. I also consider it vital that each child receives appropriate education for their needs, which is very much not in her plans. There are other places to make cuts, if that is what she feels she has to do. But I don't like the sounds of her plans one bit.

I don't care how much energy she has about it. I want someone who is interested in helping everyone, including the vulnerable, and who is willing to put money into education and health.

"internalised racism" How horribly f*ing patronising.

A black person can't have conservative views without people like you accusing them of intellectual feebleness, gullibility and not knowing their own minds?

What you really dislike is them getting all uppity by going with whatever politics they feel represents their values and their best interests and not appreciating who their true masters are.

You ought to be ashamed. I bet you don't though!

As a black women internalised racism is a real thing

you ought to look into the racist roots of the word uppity....

Just checked.

Can't find any source for a racist origin for "uppity".

Please enlighten me.

As a black women internalised racism is a real thing
As a Black woman, I agree that in some circumstances internalised racism can exist. What I do not agree with is the lazy way that it is being weaponised on any ethnic minority who does not act in a preconceived manner. There is no evidence that Kemi suffers from it and accusing her of having it is no better than people who used to call Black people "coconuts" as an insult if they spoke or acted differently.

I guess we can agree to disagree ☺️

She did well tonight but her numbers are fairly low aren’t they?

She’d need to pull some across

HappyHappyHermit · 15/07/2022 21:19

I think she would be a disaster for the children of this country and their education. Anyone who spouts off about superfluous staff in schools has clearly not been in one recently and has little or no understanding as to how best help children learn and achieve their potential.

As a white woman it sounds to me like patronising, intersectional blx.

FrasierCraneDay · 15/07/2022 21:27

She was a disaster tonight. She can spout all the shite she wants about social care etc, it doesn't remove the fact that she does not care for the children of this country, especially those with sen. As far as she's concerned the sen teachers/ta's are nothing but a waste of money. I'd like to know what she thinks will happen when these staff are let go under her role as pm.

Always, it's nice to disagree and be civil 😆

FridayiminlovewithRobertSmith · 15/07/2022 21:40

I’ve met Kemi through work and she was very unimpressive. Over confident and with little substance.

She is the furthest to the right of all the candidates in this competition and I find her priorities and suggested policies repugnant. They would be disastrous for our country.

Being articulate and energetic (relative to the group) is not a substitute for leadership. There are big issues and we need someone intelligent, sober, and strategic with integrity and pragmatism to guide us through.

itsgettingweird · 15/07/2022 21:43

Bishy odd that you'd get that I'm complaining rather than being surprised she used the expression. You do know it's ok to,question things at times?

As you have no idea what race or even nationality I am either you can't possibly make a judgement and get all that from my one expression of surprise.

And yes, it also surprises me she says she doesn't believe racism exists.

I suppose it's different experiences?

lifeturnsonadime · 16/07/2022 00:49

What she said was: "Concentrating on effective whole class teaching of rigorous subjects rather than allocating tight resources to superfluous support staff and peripheral activities" It seems to me she wants to concentrate on what she sees as vital education. I think that's something most people would agree with.I

So you don't think it is vital to teach children who can't be taught in a mainstream classroom environment?

What are you going to do with those children?

Aren't they worthy of education? If not why not?

What's wrong with them?

Some of the brightest minds are autistic but can't thrive in a mainstream environment? Are you writing them off?

Why is that?

How is that forward thinking?

But saying she can only have conservative views by being not as informed and socially/politically aware as certain leftist mumsnet posters are, is a disgusting, patronising, racist thing to say. Do you agree?

Nothing to do with racism. But her views are disgusting, ableslst and socially incompetent. Seemingly as are you given your views on education and what you deem to be 'vital education'.

BetterFuture1985 · 16/07/2022 01:57

WithAnXXHere · 15/07/2022 15:16

Those complaining that she's too "right wing"...

Well yes, she is, and the right wing is rising, and why do you think that is? Why can't the likes of Labour win elections?

I'll tell you why, because the left has been silencing, ignoring, and arresting anyone who criticises them. They have alienated most of their voters based on stupid arguments about penises!

Kemi shouldn't be our best choice, but right now, there's no other choice!

If you ignore someone, why do you need to silence them? In my experience I don't listen to people like you simply because you talk a lot of unsubstantiated crap and I don't feel any need to silence people like you because you're all your own worst enemies.

If you were actually paying attention instead of being engrossed in a culture war that only the right wing of the Conservative Party and Nigel Farage have any interest in you'd realise that the things you bang on about are of no interest whatsoever to the vast majority of people. Take the obsession for example about transexual rights at the moment. The right wing cannot move their attention off it whilst for most people it's just a bland request for people to be treated fairly. Most of us can observe trends like "preferred pronouns" and be generally disinterested and think "whatever" but the right wing fight about it like their lives depended on it.

As for being arrested for having an opinion. This is weapons grade stupidity because - well, let's do it shall we? Give an example.

You 'did some research' and didn't find a connection? Really?

Because if you Google 'uppity racist' then you get hundreds of hits...

So it sort of feels like you didn't do any research / even Google it once it was pointed out.
