What would you give a really good reception teacher?

She's helped my child a lot this year. What would be a decent memorable gift?

If I were you, I'd get her a decent bottle of wine and a nice box of chocolates, and then I'd write her a really detailed, heartfelt letter outlining the things that you remember and appreciate. Maybe include a drawing from your child?

I can tell you for sure that the letter will mean more than any gift ever could, and will likely be cherished for years to come.

M&S voucher so she can have a nice meal/treat of her choice.

This. I still treasure cards and letters like this from parents.

I agree. Write a heart felt letter the gift itself isn't important. Teachers are so demoralised at the moment it would mean a lot to know she is appreciated.

Another vote for a letter. Copy it to the headteacher as well.

If you want to buy a gift, vouchers are a safe bet. I've given M&S and Amazon vouchers before (the latter mean the teacher can buy something for herself, or for the classroom - sadly, money for the prize box or better quality glue sticks is hard to come by). Steer clear of anything cheesy like a mug with #1 Teacher on it!
