How to silence what’s app group without leaving?

Hi, would really appreciate some help. My ILs have a family what’s app group in which they post messages that are really negatively impacting my mental health and self esteem.

I want to silence this chat without leaving it because I don’t want the drama of being seen to leave, or the upset of staying to read it. I know I can “mute” it, but that just turns off notifications. It still comes to the top of my list whenever there is a new message.

I just don’t want to see it. I want it to go away unless I actually actively choose to look at it and see what’s been said (whether that’s 1 or 100 messages).

Can anyone help?

Hi so what I did was pin a bunch of people who I dont really message to the top of the chat and the annoying group was out of the screen range.

I had the same with an annoying work WhatsApp that kept on messaging me on my days off. Even though I didnt need to reply It woukd set off my anxiety.

Could you archive it? It then goes in another folder

PrachtStück · 14/07/2022 22:49

Archive it. You can also choose to not be notified at all about any new messages. You’ll have a little number and folder showing above all your normal chats, so as long as that doesn’t bother you.

Mute the conversation? Hold down on their name then click on mute.

Swipe left then 'archive'
You can go back at any time just it keeps it out of the way

Mute all notifications and archive the chat. I’ve done this with an annoying work one

Will try archiving, thanks all
