Job is now being advertised as temporary!! Thoughts please

Long story short, DH has applied for dream job, got in the last stage and without hearing anything back the job has now been re advertised the next day as temporary tbrough recruitment agency?! Why would this happen? He is really confused about the whole thing. DH thought interview went really well, answered all questions and left feeling he did his best. Is there any logical reason for this or should we assume that DH has been unsuccessful and will hear in due course?

In terms of his own application he can only ask for feedback and see what’s going on.

The readvertising as temporary could be an additional duplicate role, could be the funding for the perm role has fallen through, could be they have changed their minds about the dept structure so are making a temp hire while they figure it out…

Is he on a long notice period? Or might his level be expected to be?

He was asked notice period at 1sr stage interview and told them (3mths) it's very odd.

I guess we're still hoping that somehow we will still hear good news but it was a mega blow to get the notification from
