How to work this with the gift card

I've received a gift card for a Hell Bunny dress.

I've never bought from the brand before so I'm unsure between sizes and also want to try on 2 or 3 different styles.

The only problem is, if you order and pay between a gift card and credit card then return some of the items, the refund is added to your gift card balance first.

So basically if I order a number of items to try, I will end up paying for what I keep myself rather than on the gift card. I hope that makes sense!

Can anyone think of a way round this? I feel like I'm overthinking it!

Order several, all on your credit card. Try them all on, send them all back. Reorder your favourite with the gift card.

Or, ring them up when you are about to do the return, explain the problem and ask if they can override the system manually to avoid you having to return and reorder the exact same dress. It would be the same transactions, just without incurring extra postage. Worth a punt maybe, you've nothing to lose.
