Is this an expression used round your way? If so, where are you? Am in Edinburgh and no but friends in Gtr Manc, yes (much to the hilarity of the DCs)

Yes, South Wales

BusySittingDown · 14/07/2022 19:51

I think so. Not by myself but I've heard DD1 refer to some of the boys at school as Roadmen.

MolliciousIntent · 14/07/2022 19:51

Yes, Gloucester

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 14/07/2022 19:52

Yes. Norfolk.

troppibambini6 · 14/07/2022 19:52

South Manchester and yes it's used here by teens. I know what it means but it's not a word I would use.

Pixiedust1234 · 14/07/2022 19:52

East Midlands. Only one dd says it though and she's 28. I figure its a tiktok expression?

GoldPig · 14/07/2022 19:52

Yes East London

PeekAtYou · 14/07/2022 19:53

Yes Buckinghamshire

Facefortheradio · 14/07/2022 19:53

Yes. North East. I had no idea what it meant. 14 year old translated.

Hoppinggreen · 14/07/2022 19:53

The White MC 13 year olds at my sons Private school think they are road men

EspeciallyDeIighted · 14/07/2022 19:54

Yes Hampshire

shivermetimbers77 · 14/07/2022 19:59

Yes London.

stillherenow · 14/07/2022 20:00

Yes Surrey

Longdistance · 14/07/2022 20:01

Bedfordshire, yes, my dd uses that expressions. According to her it’s teenage boys who hang out having fights in groups, riding bikes and wearing ‘cool clothes’. Well, if wearing a grey tracksuit looking like you’ve just been released from Pentonville prison is a cool look 🤷🏼‍♀️

enjoyingscience · 14/07/2022 20:02

Yep, Oxfordshire. It’s not an aspirational term though!

inmyslippers · 14/07/2022 20:02

Yes northwest England

enjoyingscience · 14/07/2022 20:02

Can very much recommend road man pepper pig if you have a spare ten minutes.

goodthinking99 · 14/07/2022 20:05

I'm in Edinburgh and it's definitely used here, teen DD had to explain as I'd never heard it before (from Belfast), where does it originate from?

Yodaisawally · 14/07/2022 20:07

London. It's old now. Kids were using it to sound cool, now they've realised the
Implications that it's not cool. Unless they're actually in to county lines dealing in which case they wouldn't advertise it...DH is a secondary teacher.

fourplusfour · 14/07/2022 20:08

Yes - South West

CalistoNoSolo · 14/07/2022 20:09

Yes, Cotswolds. Very much a derogatory term as used by DD and her friends.

Pegasushaswings · 14/07/2022 20:10

Yes heard it many a time in London and Essex, thankfully I don’t have to associate with the types that use that term anymore.

goodthinking99 · 14/07/2022 20:10

@Yodaisawally ah! I see, as in on the road, dealing, as part of a county line set up? DD would have no idea of those connotations...

EspeciallyDeIighted · 14/07/2022 20:13

Yes derogatory here as in "god there were these boys on the bus who though they were roadmen it was so funny"

FogoInn · 14/07/2022 20:17

I'm just outside Edinburgh, early 50s and never heard of it.
Is it generational rather than geographical?
