Car: Any disadvantage in having service and MOT at different times?

I normally coincide an annual car service with my MOT test. However, this year I have done a lot more miles, and should ideally get my service done a couple of months earlier than planned. Alternatively, I could put it off and wait for the MOT. Apart from the logistical headache of two bookings rather than one, are there any technical advantages of doing the two together?

I’d say the two big advantages are that the car is being inspected more frequently and that you get to spread the cost. Having the service a couple of months ahead should hopefully reduce the chance of any nasty MOT fails as well.
