Does anyone know Munich Airport - I need to kill 7 hours!

Our flight times have changed and we now have 7 hours till kill in Munich. I don't want to risk going out the airport if we don't have to (or even can do) so would rather waste time pleasantly in the airport instead if possible.

It's me, DH and 10 year old DS - ideally he needs to be tired enough to sleep on the subsequent flight that leaves at 10.30pm.

We arrive at 1.45 in the afternoon.

I know I can google this too but it's far nicer hearing it from people who've been...

Thanks!

MUC is an excellent airport. The terminals have lots of good shops landside. There is also open-air atrium between the two terminals which has lots of bars & restaurants where you can sit outside. The Airbrau brew pub is highly recommended for delicious bier brewed on the premises & traditional Bavarian food.

Alternatively, you could get the 512 bus to Erding, which is a lovely town a few miles from the airport. It’s a great place to spend a few hours strolling around and having lunch in the sun. I can recommend the restaurant at the Hotel zum Erdinger Weissbrau.

Airside of the airport is dire at Munich, but outside, as previous poster said some reasonable shops and restaurants. Not sure I would risk leaving the airport without knowing immediate area
