How are people "liking" or "loving" text messages?

I'm a bit baffled!

I sent a text to my Rainbow and Guide parents, yesterday, saying wear something suited to the weather & bring water bottles - one "liked" my message (which was quoted back to me in the text to tell me this)

Tonight; I've been having a text conversation about an event with a different parent. I replied to X is looking forward to it, with "we are too" & have just received notification that she "loved" my text message.

How?? I don't get it? Is it maybe an iPhone thing? I can't see how to do it on my Samsung 🤔

Usually you can do this if you hold down the message. I've noticed they've introduced this on WhatsApp recently.

Are you using the text function or whatsapp OP?

Whatsapp allows you to like/love etc

You double tap the message on an iPhone and it brings up options, like, thumb up/down, etc

On my new phone it has the messages automatically in a "chat" function, they look like texts and work like texts but I can interact with them. I only noticed because one didn't send and I had to click a button that said "send as a text"

Just normal, bog standard, text messages. Maybe I need to press & hold before reading 🤔 I'm curious so will get one of the girls to text me to find out 🤣

I hold down the message on iPhone to do it. It looks like this

You can go in to any text after it’s read to like it
on iPhone, so just look at any old message in your phone, you don’t need to wait for a new one to see if your phone does it.
