What soap do you use at the kitchen sink for your hands?

My mum has asked me to get her some hand washing soap for the kitchen. She normally has liquid soap but I have Nesti Dante bar soap. What do you use and what is best avoided? I can't get to anywhere like tkmax or b&m/home bargains but know people often says about soaps from there. It needs to be online or from a small Asda/boots/Superdrug/co-op/pharmacy. Thank you!

I bought a bottle of Baylis and Harding rainbow fruit cocktail one the other day. It smells really good. It also makes me laugh when I see it. Next I'll be scrubbing the sink with Zoflora and putting live, laugh, live stickers on the living room wall.

Whatever antibacterial one is cheapest normally

Whichever is on offer in tesco for a quid or there abouts. Ideally white -so it matches the kitchen-

Method at kitchen sink - I buy the refill packs.

Bar soap in bathroom with a method dispenser as an option for guests. People can be funny about the hygiene aspects of bar soap.

Anything thst kills 99% germs/bacteria

I use bar soap in the bathroom but unscented method, ecover, waitrose or markses hand-wash in the kitchen.

We wash our hands in the washbasin in the bathroom, using Oliva olive oil soap or the Dermol 500 pump I get on prescription for dry skin. The kitchen sink is for washing dishes, filling up the watering can, etc. Are we weird?

How do you wash your hands in the middle of cooking?

IamEarthymama · 12/07/2022 23:46

Washing up liquid would tear my hands to shreds, as do most liquid soaps, shower gels, bubble bath etc etc.
So I have a pretty vintage soap dish next to the sink with a bar of olive oil soap.
I bought a huge block in TKMAXX and DW cuts slices off.

I love TKMAXX for soap and everything that you didn’t know you wanted and/or needed until you saw it!!

Carex white or blue & there is a bar of Dove soap there as well.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 13/07/2022 00:03

We also have that rainbow fruit cocktail Bayliss and Harding one right now - I really like it! Usually I buy the melon hand wash from Flying Tiger but I got DP to pick some up in Asda. I have a couple of nice lavender bottles stashed away from TK Maxx too.

Buy her a bar of soap, that might convert her and that's one less person buying unnecessary plastic.

easyday · 13/07/2022 00:28

Sanex or whatever's on sale.

HuffleWoof · 13/07/2022 00:29

I've got Aesop resurrection at the mo in the kitchen because DH got it in a hamper at work, god it's beautiful but not worth £30!

AuntTwacky · 13/07/2022 00:39

Simple liquid hand wash

caringcarer · 13/07/2022 00:40

Dove as I get dry hands else.

echt · 13/07/2022 00:46

Organic Choice dish and hand wash, all the one bottle. Tangerine peel, chamomile and sage. It works a treat.

ElEmEnOhPee · 13/07/2022 00:50

Currently using this one, it smells lovely and was only £1 😊

Please reconsider buying liquid soap, it's in single use plastic. Bars of soap are environmentally friendly and last for ages so more cost effective.

I haven't found a bar of soap which is not drying out my hands. I find them absolutely unpleasant and even most liquid soaps are not great.

If Lush would do a jelly like they do the shower jellies I would jump on it.

Cervinia · 13/07/2022 07:29

I have M&S apothecary upstairs because I love it, Rituals in the downstairs loo as guests use it and it matches my new tiles and use washing up liquid in the kitchen because it’s handy 😂

Sniffypete · 13/07/2022 07:30

Washing up liquid

LondonQueen · 13/07/2022 07:32

I use any old carex soap in the kitchen and put it in the soap dispenser. I do keep a hand cream in there (and by all the sink) as that's more effective for hand care than soap.

DockOTheBay · 13/07/2022 07:32

The blue Carex soap. They sell refill pouches which was use 85% less plastic so I get those and refill my plastic dispensers.

Bar soap dries out my skin and my daughters especially, but I also find it a faff with small children as they can't get it to lather it just slips everywhere!

KatherineJaneway · 13/07/2022 07:32

I am odd as I have two. One is Tesco antibacterial hand-wash and I have Carex antibacterial hand-wash.

Ragwort · 13/07/2022 07:33

I've got to my mid 60s without ever having given this any thought - I just use Fairy washing up liquid ...
