Who do you think will win?

I reckon Rishi.

I think Rishi will be streaks ahead amongst MPs but the membership will vote Truss. Which is absolutely awful for the country except that it means Labour will win the next election.

Sporty2022 · 13/07/2022 19:10

Rishi Sunak isn’t doing it for the money. It’s all about getting his business pals deals. Favours for mates.
I’ve never voted Labour would do if there was an election tomorrow.
But there won’t be. The Tories aren’t going to commit political suicide by having a snap General election. They’d lose their majority at best.
Boris was a one trick pony- get Brexit done.
The Conservative party have nothing left to offer.

Sporty2022 · 13/07/2022 19:11

Truss will be awful. Probably worse than Rishi Sunak.

itsgettingweird · 13/07/2022 19:26

That said, I also found it interesting to see Michael Gove supporting Badenoch.

Actually that one makes most sense!

The man who started to drive education into the group and did an amazing job of flooring it voting for the woman who thinks a support staff are superfluous and peripheral activities frivilous. All we need is a class of 30 pupils and teacher with a plan to teach them all universally!

romatheroamer · 14/07/2022 09:32

It's such a weird situation isn't it? As Chris Mason said on Today, after commenting that Sunak sounded awkward and evasive under direct questioning (true) the next PM will be decided by the Tory membership, a small, totally unrepresentative segment of the population. There are most people struggling with the cost of living and all the day-to day problems and a kind of little parallel universe...the candidates, a small bunch of rather weird people who aspire to run the country.

stillherenow · 14/07/2022 11:42

Yes we need to change things so that a change in PM triggers a general election. A new PM could take an entirely new direction that hasn't been voted for.

ElbowGreaseLightning · 14/07/2022 11:51

It is irrelevant to me, as I am not voting conservative again. They are all a shower of shite.

They had a golden opportunity to get this country’s shit together. Collectively we were ready for massive change and were prepared to suck up hard times to get there, and they treated us all with contempt. They are too busy stabbing each other in the back and spending time covering up their stinking turds.

I’m sick of them all and next election I’m tactically voting to get them out.

HRTQueen · 14/07/2022 12:00

I think it will be Penny Morduant and she has that role our selves up and get on with it attitude that appeals to many voters

Rishi Sunak is too close or was to Boris Johnson and his wife’s status doesn’t help and

I would prefer RS win

I don’t think Liz Truss will win though popular with many Tories

entropynow · 14/07/2022 15:35

Rinatinabina · 12/07/2022 18:44

I think Truss will win, feel it in my waters.

Christ.

Sporty2022 · 15/07/2022 14:42

Liz Truss changes her position like the wind.

Classica · 15/07/2022 14:47

I'd love for Truss to win it. I'd guess that Labour would love for her to win it too.

She has all the dynamism of a parsnip.

User5386509 · 15/07/2022 14:52

I think it will be whoever goes up against Rishi in the final two, it's widely thought that Rishi may lose in the final two because the Tory membership think differently to the MPs. So Morduant or Truss

MarshaMelrose · 15/07/2022 14:58

the next PM will be decided by the Tory membership, a small, totally unrepresentative segment of the population.

But that's how both Conservative and Labour work. It was the same with Gordon Brown. No one stood against him but if they had, a small, totally unrepresentative segment of the population would have decided. As it happened, not even party members got a say, the crown was passed on unchallenged.
