Quick question - fan in kid's room?

Very quick question, have you got a fan on in your kid's room tonight??

I have an irrational fear of it exploding or something terrible, but it's so hot I think I need to leave it on for dd.

Ridiculous pondering as I've got mine on and it will stay on tonight.

I had the same thoughts as you and decided I was being an anxious parent and put a fan in there. It was stifling so I’m glad I did. I also had the same worries when I got DD a new night light.

My son had a fan in his room from the age of three to 18 …guess it was the original version of white noise!! It never crossed my mind it had any hazards!! Obviously toddler could potentially put their finger in the way !

Yes there’s a fan in each bedroom tonight.

just make sure it is positioned somewhere where the child can’t get their head close to it - I’m always a bit cautious in case hair gets tangled up.

I've just been having this conversation with dh. He recons "they" say you shouldn't leave them on all night. No idea who "they" are though!!

Haha, glad it's not just me who has these weird reservations!!

I think Ill leave it on until I go to bed, then reassess, she's in a toddler bed and it's about two foot away from her... I am totally overthinking it, aren't I?

My dad said the same thing but I think it's old advice in relation to them overheating?

All 4 children have a running fan pointing at them at number 3 in this heat all night.

not sure id trust a toddler with a fan though - mine would probably try and put their fingers in it. They would have to be at least 5 or so and they can’t pull it over when I’d be asleep

badshoedecision · 11/07/2022 22:11

Sorry, mentioned toddler bed (upgrade to proper bed due very soon!) as it's low to the ground and therefore at optimum height for the imaginary fan explosion situ that is currently running though my mind, she's 4, and fairly sensible, plus fast asleep, and unlikely to wake up until I am awake in the morning!

I have a 6 and 10 year old both sleeping with tower fans on
