Newcastle or metro centre?

So I find myself with a half empty wardrobe and a chance to visit the big city tomorrow

Where would a 50+ not exactly fashion conscious, size 10-12, jeans and t shirts , lady be best shopping - Newcastle or the metro centre?
What shops are recommended?

Newcastle all the way.
Metro centre just feels too enclosed.

You are spoilt for choice in Newcastle. There's Fenwick's for starters.

Metro centre will be cooler!

Newcastle.. Lots of shops and much more character!

Newcastle.

Metro centre has lost House of Fraser and Debenhams hasn't it? Last I time was there it was dreary with loads of empty shops.

ScarlettDarling · 10/07/2022 19:45

Newcastle. Fenwick is fab as mentioned above and you’ve got all your usual shops too.

DisforDarkChocolate · 10/07/2022 19:47

Newcastle, the Metro Centre is half empty. I only go the M&S now.

I'd be tempted to get the train to York though.

I've got to travel enough as it is - and I always find York so very busy with tourists ( DD went uni there )

Newcastle sounds the best bet than - thanks

Eldon Square in the middle of Newcastle and all the shops around it.

Not really. Eldon Centre is the indoor part of Newcastle city centre.

Glittertwins · 10/07/2022 20:01

It's still Newcastle though!

Newcastle for sure..the Metro is soulless

You can have a git good neb round Fenwicks and a mooch about outside and in Eldon Square
