I just fainted, do I need to do anything?

I'm 52 and I've never fainted before.

It's quite warm here, I was on my way to get a drink and open the kitchen window. Next thing I knew I was on the floor.

DS2 was with me and he says I was only out for a second. I must have landed on my arm because that really hurts, but apart from that I feel fine now.

Do I need to see someone medical or is it just one of those things?

I almost fainted today as well but I do have Covid. I was able to call out though and was helped to a chair. Are you ok now? It’s very scary.

Probably just one of those things, heat, low BP, whatever. I would wait and see and see the GP if it happens again.

I fainted in 1977. Never done it again.

It’s very hot and your bp may have dropped so I wouldn’t worry for now. If it happens again then might be worth getting checked out. I’m a frequent fainter for a few reasons and it’s not fainting that’s bad, it’s usually if you hit your head or injure another part of you. Hope you’re feeling okay now.

Do you think you might have a touch of heatstroke?

Sugary liquid and lie on your back with your legs in the air for 20 minutes.

Something with salt
something with sugar

keep well hydrated and see how you feel

have you got a BP monitor? Might as well check. Low BP has made me faint a couple of times, I was fine next day, hope you will be too
