Is it worth following up on job rejection?

I’ve recently interviewed for a job I was really keen on for a company I’d love to work for.
at um interview they told me they’d already had another candidate who they’d taken to final stage in the review and they were keen on but after seeing my CV had held off offering to speak to me.
I had a voicemail yesterday to say they were going to proceed with the other candidate as they came across slightly more passionate about the role.
mom really gutted as I do actually feel really passionate about the job and gutted I didn’t portray this enough.

is it worth following up with something along the lines off “please keep my details for consideration if your candidate doesn’t work etc”. Or do I just need to move on? ☹️

I wouldn't. I don't think they've been very fair to you. Dangling a carrot and taking it away.

The fact that they were open they were interested in speaking to you is a good sign. No harm in asking being kept on file for future options

Different to your situation but I had a job offer just before covid which was then withdrawn because of covid. 18 months later they called me again and asked if I wanted to interview again and got the job.
I think it’s probably worth a polite follow-up saying to keep you in mind if anything else comes up. You have nothing to lose anyway. Good luck
