Ideas for an Alice in Wonderland / Mad Hatter themed party

SprinkledGlitter · 08/07/2022 20:44

So far was thinking of doing pin the tail on the white rabbit
Having a caterpillar cake
Making decorations out of packs of cards

This is a small party for an 8 year old.

Does anyone have any other ideas?

I did post this earlier, in the 90 days only topic, and then it occurred to me that I would probably get more suggestions in Chat.

Thanks in advance. .

I thought about doing this for DDs birthday one year but annoyingly she didn’t really like it when we read it. You can get little paper teacups and saucers on Amazon, I was planning on doing a long table for them to sit at with the food laid out (like in the mad hatters tea party) with plastic teapots of squash and paper teacups. And jam tarts. If you look on Pinterest there are loads of different ideas for food and decorations. Eat me/drink me labels for food and drink. ‘This way’, ‘that way’ signpost on the front door.

Depending on how many kids you’ve got attending you can get top hat making kits (or make your own out of card) and let them decorate their own top hat.

Possibly a croquet set if you think they’d be any good at taking turns and it wouldn’t descend into chaos.

Giant cards to play higher or lower.

We ordered ‘drink me’ labels and put them on bottles of drink.

Bought loads of second hand China from charity shop for a tea party.

Bought a Disney Alice in wonderland colouring book and ripped it up and had a colouring table (our party was for a 6th birthday so this may not work for you).

Oh and we bought a kids croquet set but forgot about it!

Hello we did a birthday party on exactly this theme a few weeks ago very happy to share pics via DM

I made character cut outs with the faces cut out on giant cardboard so all children could have pics as Alice/Mad Hatter/Rabbit/Queen of hearts etc
Did all the food themed and got some great edible cupcake toppers
Made a "pin the heart on Queen of hearts nose" thing as a variation of pin the donkey
Got inflatable flamingo hoopla thing you wear as a hat from Amazon which was a surprise hit!
Made all my own labels for drinks etc "drink me", "eat me", this way no that way
Found some playing card ♦️ hanging decs quite cheaply.
Grass runner for table
Inflatable selfie frames were popular along with a few props
Jam sandwiches with ❤️ shapes cut out looked great and all got cleared quickly

Play corners

So music plays, when it stops you go to a card.

The person doing the music draws a card from behind their back.
The ones at that suit are out. (I'd use the aces for corners and the rest of a pack for drawing)

I'd also get a cheap plastic/ wooden croquet set. We loved ours as children.

TroysMammy · 09/07/2022 12:20

If they get noisy you could play who can be quiet like a dormouse the longest?
