Who should win the Tory leadership contest based on sheer good looks?

The obvious candidate is Jacob Rees-Mogg but since I suspect he's unlikely to stand, who else should I have my eye on?

OP posts:
SprinkleOfSunak · 08/07/2022 16:25

Rishi Sunak all the way (you probably guessed that though from my username). He’s my absolute number 1 crush.

His height wouldn’t be a barrier to the things us 2 would be getting up to.

CredibilityProblem · 08/07/2022 16:27

Jeremy Hunt apparently dances a mean salsa which is quite attractive.

SheepingStandingUp · 08/07/2022 16:29

I don't get the Rishi love.

Forced to snog one at the illegal party, I'd pick Tom Tugendhat.

Portillista · 08/07/2022 16:30

Michael 😍

Nobody else compares.

Tom Tugendhat is cute but do you not think he has a bit of a baby face?

Agree James Cleverly has a great smile! I'd never heard of him until the last couple of days but he's a great addition to the pool 😉

James looks like a friendly headteacher at a primary school. Perfect fit really

LaurieFairyCake · 08/07/2022 16:32

Penny Mordaunt is the most conventionally attractive

Sunak is too short

Jacob Rees Mogg is possibly the most unattractive person in the whole party

John Major has aged well

medianewbie · 08/07/2022 16:34

JRM but only because he reminds me of a RL Ex, NOT his 'personality'...
Rory Stewart, definitely ...
Rishi will do well in Leadership battle probably.

ODFOx · 08/07/2022 16:40

Sunak, cute as a button and he has a twinkle.

!!!!!

I get why you might like Rory Stewart’s chat, brains, wit, integrity …. but nobody, not even his mother could possibly say he he would win anything on sheer good looks.

Plus of course he isn’t an MP or a candidate

TheThreadisMildlyAmusing · 08/07/2022 16:46

Tom Tugendhat. But if he was in the running I'd choose William Hague. 🤫

Autumnterm · 08/07/2022 16:46

Hoppinggreen · 08/07/2022 16:10

I don’t think Johnny Mercer is standing but I totally would.
Hunt is quite dishy in a startled llama kind of way

startled llama?!?

Covidagainandagain · 08/07/2022 16:52

Svara · 08/07/2022 16:14

I find him very appealing, in a well bred upper class way, but I do love a man with a good head of hair!

Steve Baker looks like a former RAF engineer, you know how some peoples looks suit their job, his totally do.

But I vote for Larry personally

Covidagainandagain · 08/07/2022 16:53

Autumnterm · 08/07/2022 16:46

startled llama?!?

Now I;ve read that I can't unsee him as a startled llama

ProfessorFusspot · 08/07/2022 16:59

Purely aesthetically: Esther McVey. Maybe Kwasi Kwertung.

In reality, I'll settle for consistently well and appropriately dressed/groomed and conscious of not making ridic faces on camera. (Unfortunately this tends to put women at a disadvantage, as there are more options so more scrutiny, plus sexist press.)

Braverman, Javid, Sunak, Truss, Wallace, Zahawi are all OK.
Patel is OK except the smirking.
Shapps is another bacon sandwichgate waiting to happen.
Gove is Gove is Gove.

Hunt looks like a tailor's dummy in pics/video, better in person.
Mordant's skivvies pics are out there forever.

LaQuern · 08/07/2022 17:00

Jezza Hunt.

I blame the menopause but he always looks to me like he has a nice collection of jumpers, smells nice and does a mean barbecue when the neighbours pop round.

ODFOx · 08/07/2022 17:05

In the last leadership election when they were all out running Jeremy Hunt went jogging in the same outfit that the bastard who pushed the woman under a bus on Putney Bridge wore. In my head he is forever linked to the image of that poor woman as the bus swerved. Different haircut but similar jawline and I can't I see the resemblance.

ODFOx · 08/07/2022 17:06

That's 'I can't unsee the resemblance'

Lottapianos · 08/07/2022 17:09

'Very disappointed my guilty crush Dominick Raab isn’t standing.'

I agree that Raab is the hottest, although is possibly also a psychopath. So yeah, there's that

Priti Patel is gorgeous on the outside, totally rotten on the inside

Jacob RM and Rory Stewart - dear god, have a word with yourselves 🤢

SnowyLamb · 08/07/2022 17:13

Patel and Braverman are both attractive women, but something horrible happens when they smile. The opposite is true for most people!

SnowyLamb · 08/07/2022 17:14

I can see the JRM thing. I love him as a comedy character, I could listen to his turn of phrase all day, it's just such a shame that what he says matters!

MisguidedSheep · 08/07/2022 17:14

DialsMavis · 08/07/2022 14:57

I despise them all, but also fancy Raab, it makes me feel stick.

Priti is the best looking

She really isn't. When you spend any time with her you see the ordinariness and the downturned mouth, over plucked eyebrows, poorly applied makeup. She is also short and has no presence/charisma (which is why she has to bully)

Bakedpotatoesfortea · 08/07/2022 17:18

Hunt, Sunak or Patel are objectively the best looking. Don't trust any of them to run the country though

Fladdermus · 08/07/2022 17:21

My phone doesn't have an anti-evil filter so they all look pretty ugly to me.

Princessoftheuniverse · 08/07/2022 17:23

gryilla
Priti is gorgeous. But I would love to send her the name of a good tailor!

Could you send Rishi one too? His suits must cost a fortune but his trousers always look too short.

Jaxhog · 08/07/2022 17:25

This is the most entertaining (and bizarre) thread I read for ages!

My vote goes to Larry.
