Anyone know what this plastic key thing is (poss phone engineer related)

Does anyone know what this is? It's about
45mm long, plastic. There's been a phone engineer in the house today so may be related to that. Or general building / tools etc. It says pat pending, so don't think it's a key for a soap dispenser/loo roll holder which was my first thought.

I think it's used to hold the threads from an ironing board cover

ours came with a key like this when we had mice.

My well be from the ironing board - at DMs and she has a new cover she's unpackaged and needs to return to the shop... Strong contender.
