Who does Larry belong to?

Useless Prime Ministers come and go but Larry remains, munching on Dreamies and licking his nethers.

Larry's political memoirs would be explosive.

He belongs to the house, ie, 10 Downing Street.

lospolloshermanosass · 06/07/2022 11:44

He comes with the house, initially he was supposed to be number 10's mouser.

lospolloshermanosass · 06/07/2022 11:45

His Twitter account is fun.

He had a starring role in the 6 o'clock news yesterday. If only he could talk..

I wonder if he attended any of the illegal parties? 🤔

viques · 06/07/2022 11:48

Larry is wonderful, he has outlasted several pms, and a great many cabinet ministers. He has a better grasp of current political issues than many of us do, his Twitter account commentary is always on point, and he catches mice and is entertaining. The Conservative party could do a lot worse than choosing Larry as a replacement for the “greasy pig” as the DM has so appropriately dubbed BJ.

Somethingneedstochange · 07/07/2022 10:13

I love the Larry the cat meme's.😂😂😂

I have met Larry several times. Such a lovely cat (and I am not even a cat person!). He likes to sit out the front or in the entrance hall of no. 10 and inspect people as they come and go.

LIZS · 07/07/2022 10:18

He's a civil servant! There are others in Westminster too.

thereisonlyoneofme · 07/07/2022 10:19

Larry for PM !

BotCrossHuns · 07/07/2022 10:20

who actually looks after him though? Feeds him and takes him to the vet etc? I'm sure he gets petted and cuddled by lots of visitors, but does he actually have a person who is his, does he sleep there in someone's office/flat?!

I have it on good authority that it's Martine McCutchen. He sleeps on her bed and she feeds him and cleans the litter tray.

I have met a cat who was a political leader- Mandu who was joint leader of the Monster Raving Loony Party after the death of Screaming Lord Sutch.

The most welcoming and kind political leader I will ever meet no doubt.

Somethingneedstochange · 07/07/2022 10:50

😂😂😂

Somethingneedstochange · 07/07/2022 11:10

He was rescued from Battersea by staff so I'm assuming they look after him. The PM spends a lot of time away from downing Street. So can't be there to see to his daily needs.

He was born in 2007 so must be close to retiring. He's a good judge of character doesn't like men. But he liked Obama and didn't like Trump.

Does any cat belong to anyone?

As adorable as the are (and I do love cats) they are the fuckboys of the animal world aren't they?

JohannSebastianBach · 07/07/2022 11:28

Larry was trolling yesterday when he sat on the doorstep but didn't go in when the door was opened for him 🤣

User3568975431146 · 07/07/2022 11:31

If he could talk, he'd have some stories to tell!

Somethingneedstochange · 07/07/2022 11:34

There has been a resident cat in the English government employed as a mouser and pet since the 1500s, although modern records date only to the 1920s. Despite other cats having served Downing Street, the first one to be given the official title of Chief Mouser by the British government was Larry in 2011.

Larry is a rescued stray cat from the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home who was chosen by Downing Street staff. Larry was intended to be a pet for the children of David and Samantha Cameron, and was described by Downing Street sources as a "good ratter" and as having "a high chase-drive and hunting instinct".

iwantmyownicecreamvan · 07/07/2022 11:35

He's taking credit for Boris's resignation 😁

I'm a member of the Larry the Downing Street Cat For Prime Minister Facebook group. It's mad!!

There are 1000s of members from all over the world and Larry is the leader. Our cats all have random cabinet posts.. and attend pawties through the 'pawtal' with plenty of catnip.
Members regularly give updates (narrated by the cats of course with photos) on the cats' lives and health. Sometimes cats go 'over the rainbow bridge' and it's very sad.
Sometimes there are even bitchy comments if one cat is seen as getting more Facebook attention than others!!
My cat is the Deputy Home Office Minister because she's an indoor cat...

According to Dermot O'Leary's Ninja cat books, he is the head of a secret organisation of Ninja cats who are attached to all world leaders and secretly influence geo-political events.

Muezza · 07/07/2022 13:12

I love Larry! I like to imagine that in his head he thinks all the press that turn up are there to see him 😂

Somethingneedstochange · 07/07/2022 15:23

He must be the most famous cat in the world. No matter how many MP's move in and out of number 10 he stays there and we know cat's like to live in the same residence. If you move house with a cat they return to they're old home no matter how far.
