Non-fiction or Sci-fi books for an almost 10 year old?

The school report suggests branching out into reading genres other than ‘warrior cats’. DD reads extremely well, and likes funny books.

I’d welcome any suggestions for either entertaining non fiction or sci fi. :)

How to catch an invisible cat by Paul Tobin had me laughing so much when I read it to ds that I thought I would need medical attention.

For non-fiction all the ‘Horrible’ books (so Horrible Histories, Horrible Geography etc).

Also, don't forget Terry Pratchett. The Tiffany Aching series (can't remember what it's called) is about a young girl becoming a witch. It's fantasy, not sci fi, but there are plenty of books with a lot of fun.
