My son has a small operation this week for an undescended testicle, he will have general anaesthetic and be sore when he wakes up.

What would you tell him before hand?

@SteelCicada my DD did exactly the same after an operation last week. She woke up, cried hysterically, ran around the ward demanding to go home, then went back to sleep for an hour, and was an angel when she woke up. It was very odd.

The play therapists are brilliant. You can tell your son there will be lots and lots of toys. My DD also got a certificate, there was an animal trail on the way to the theatre so she could spot the animals, and the staff gave her a present afterwards.

Don’t do what my mum did many years ago, told me I was going to theatre and I cried when I woke up and there had been no show lol. Also when I was nill by mouth a relative (uncle-mums big brother, should have known better!) ate my “post theatre chocolate” , so I’d suggest hiding treats until after.

Hello- yes op went smoothly, he was sore for a few days after but then charging about as usual. Kept up with calpol and nurofen and lots of treats - hope it goes well!
