Anyone else done with work but to young to retire?!

Simply, by brain and body do not want to go to work anymore. They want to flit about the house, do the school runs and not concentrate on the things they should do.

I work a mix of remote and in the office, part-time, but have worked solidly for the last 32 years (older mum 😉) and feel that my brain has just stopped wanting to do work stuff. Zero interest. I've looked at alternative roles in my industry and also looked at a complete change of career but my corporate oomph has gone.

Could be the menopause, could be post covid but I am never normally affected mentally by issues.... anyone else?

@AlisonDonut but assuming one moves now, you cannot apply for this visa unless you are a company director etc. What happens if you need to access healthcare or education?

I really don't want to type out the whole of the regulations but where did being a company director come into it? You need to have income or be self employed or run a business [as mentioned restrictions apply] or get a job here [other restrictions apply].

Healthcare is covered 80% once you are in the system.

@AlisonDonut sorry I was using the term company director as a short hand for people who run their own businesses. I was actually wondering whether pensioners or families with kids could do it i.e. people who would need access to social services. I looked at the link but it doesn't seem to indicate

Yes I'm 55 but so fed up with it all. I left my last job early this year due to a poor/ weak manager and colleagues who just didn't do very much. Had high hopes for my new workplace but it's equally bad, a couple of us out of six or seven mainly doing all the graft, bitching and backbiting going on everywhere, open hostility in the office, another weak boss who should have retied long ago but won't go. Staff who have been there 30+ years and don't want anything to change !

There is no blanket yes or no, it is about having income, having/buying a business [restrictions apply] or getting a sponsored job here that covers your costs, esp in the first year before you get into the system, medical insurance being the biggie. Once here you are subject to taxes and have the same access as anyone else.

So if a person was recruited but the income didn't cover costs for all their family, their partner wouldn't just be able to do random work or apply for jobs here, the original job would have to earn enough to cover the whole families costs.
