DD Leaving education and tax credits

Wessexheavytreader · 04/07/2022 09:10

Does anyone know how I let tax credits know that 18 year old DD is leaving education. The online TC renewal form doesn’t allow for this (well not that I can see!) . I hate filling it out at the best of times and not sure if I am supposed to take her off the claim completely.
Any help gratefully received!

No education then no tax credits

Hi quiet, I’m not sure what your reply means? Is she automatically removed from my claim (I have younger children too) or do I need to physically tell them?

Ring the number on the front page of your tax credits review. You can also do it online at the direct.gov.uk website.

If she is leaving because she has completed her A levels, tax credits for her will stop automatically on 1st September if she is already 18.

My ds leaves education this year.

My renewal very clearly had the dates of payment until 30/8/2022.

Have a look through and see if you have a payment date or change of monthly amount from that date. Or perhaps a lower award this year to account for it and spread over the 12 months?

Thanks for your reply it’sgettingweird. My renewal notice didn’t have that. I’ve phoned them to let them know. But not sure whether to remove child on online renewal form. I don’t want to trigger a move to UC early.

Not sure if you get housing benefit or council tax single occupancy reduction. But you need to let them know separately. Mine was a nightmare to sort

Thanks for your reply Homemadearmy. You’ve reminded me to let the council know re the single occupancy changing!
