Was there ever a time you could get to France with no passport? By Eurostar.

DP is adamant.

I had a day passport as a child in the 70s for a coach trip to France with school. God knows what my mum had as she came with us and Ive never known her to have a passport.

Ds went to france/belguim with school in 2019 with a group passport organised by the school.

DS1 born 1996 was on my passport. By 1999 DS2 couldn't be. I remember surprising DH with a trip to France in about 1987 & finding he had no passport. He got one of those cards from the post office.

My husband and I traveled to France on British Visitor Passports a few times in the 80s.
Only problem was he wasn’t British, which was totally obvious from his background!
He was eventually rumbled by a Border agent, but got off with a wrist slap, a caution and a good verbal battering from his mum.

She was probably on the same group passport. They were valid for the trip.
