Positive stent stories?

I’ve just had a ureteral stent put in, to try & help with passing of small kidney stones, I’ve got a larger stone that apparently is blocking my urethra & I will need further surgery to break this down in about 4 weeks.

It’s only been 24 hrs since I had the op, and I’m finding the pain of the stent agonising! I’m on morphine, 5ml doses twice a day which is working to keep the pain at bay but when that starts to wear off the pain is almost as bad as the kidney stone. I’m supposed to be going home tomorrow, I need to resume normal life, see my kids, get back into a normal routine but I honestly didn’t expect it to hurt this much!!

Has anyone else had a ureteral stent fitted? Please tell me the pain wears off in a few days or even a week! I can’t function with that level of pain at home, although I will be discharged with Cocodamol & solifenacin which I understand helps with bladder spasms so may assist with the pain.

Surely the pain must die down? The consultant I saw this morning said that my body will get used to it. Boy it’s agonising at the moment

I had one after kidney surgery and oh my Christ, the pain.
However the first few days were the worst and then it got better. I wouldn't say it was unnoticeable but it got better with the odd twinge.

Removal was pretty shite though as it seemed to snag a lot on the way out. Take some paracetamol and profen before removal.

Then it was bliss.

Ok. So the pain did improve after a few days 😬 I’m just praying it does, I can deal with some discomfort but it’s so painful right now. 24 hrs post-op!!
