Non plumbed American fridge ???

Hi guys
bit of a random one but I’m looking to get a non plumbed American fridge freezer which has a ice/ water machine on it.. I was in curry’s today and the guy working there said they’re not worth it when they’re not plumbed in because after a while the water automatically turns to ice ??
The sticker on the fridge said no need for plumbing and will dispense water, ice cubes and crushed ice?? Does anyone have one of these fridges and does this happen to you? Or have you got any reviews on American fridge freezers

thank you in advance

We've got a none plumbed one and I can say the water has never turned into ice lol

We have a beko one, the water tank is in the fridge side and the ice comes out the freezer side -probably by magic.

It's never turned to ice.
It does make a knocking noise when the ice maker gets stuck sometimes...

We have one, been in 7 years and works fine. Ours is Samsung.

I have an LG one and the only water that turns into ice is in the ice cube making section.

Also have one and no issue with water turning into ice as the water is stored in the fridge side. Its annoying having to refill it all the time though, but it does make my children drink so much more water.

We have an LG one which we bought in 2016 and us still going strong. You have to remember to fill the water box but you soon get used to doing that (the fridge makes a noise when it sucks up water, you can tell when the noise changes)
