New job offer - Dundee!

Help! I’ve been trying to get a new job in my industry for a good while, as I need to move from current company due to impending redundancy. Have been offered a very good job, but it’s in Dundee! I’m currently in the south-east of England and have 2 primary aged kids.. Husband is up for a change as he WFH and his family live abroad anyway. My parents are quite close to kids, but live 2h drive away so aren’t reliant on us iykwim.

Really fancy the job, but Dundee?! I have no idea what it’s like and had (naively) assumed I could work remotely when I applied.

Any practical advice on such a decision and also just generally on Dundee and Scotland in general?

Help!Confused

Congratulations on your job offer. What an exciting opportunity.

Oh and you get used to cooler summers! It’s still very sunny in the east.

Its a fab part of the world, I moved up from England over 20 years ago and love it. The climate may not be as warm but its also not as cold as english people fear. Dundee and surrounding area are in a really sheltered neuk that make it much drier than the west coast and far less rain than I was used to before. I live in Fife and work in Dundee - commuting is easy, you will be amazed at how much less traffic there is on the roads if you live in a busy area of England. Just ask on here about areas you are considering and you will get honest reviews. I love have the sea, countryside and city all within 10 mins reach. Shopping isn't great but it's not far to get to Edinburgh or Glasgow if that's your thing

I'm so envious! I live in England now but I'm from Dundee and would go back in a heartbeat.
I've lived in Dundee itself, Broughty Ferry, Monifieth and St Andrews.
They're all great but offer different styles of living.
As for the climate, yes it's cooler but very sunny and dry in general.
I can't recommend it enough Smile

Hi OP, did you move or look at Dundee? I'm in process of trying to locate that way and came across your thread so would be interested how you got on
