Curtain poles that are miles from the wall

Thrilling topic I know 😄But I need help & I know Mumsnetter's will know this!

Why do thin curtain poles come with brackets that stick so far out into the room? I only have thin curtains to hang above recessed internal french doors & it seems too far.

Does this mean I need to choose the plastic strips (hoping not) or is there a third option I don't know about?

Any idea?

Hi! Are you looking for a specific measurement? Usually the projection for curtain poles of 19mm is around 6-7cm from the wall. Is it too much? But it is not recomended to use poles and brackets from different brands.
Have a look here - www.polesandblinds.com/curtain-poles/accessories/curtain-pole-brackets-connectors

Hi @Betty75 Thanks for responding Smile

They all just seem to stick out so far & was hoping to find something a little closer to the wall.

Mmm, I guess that makes sense to not mix & match. That's a useful thread too, thank you!

It depends how thin your curtains are, but if they really are thin look at net curtain poles.

They stick out so far to allow for her heavy/thick curtains, allow for net curtains, and to minimise mould from condensation. None of which likely apply in a modern house.

@TamSamLam Oooh, I hadn't thought of net curtain poles! Great idea.

Ah, that explains it! Nope, no thick heavy curtains, nets or condensation here on an internal wall. It just
feels a long way out to hang these lightweight curtains!

Thanks Mumsnet 👍🏻
