tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 02/07/2022 23:01

Are you having one now OP?

ssssssssssssssss · 02/07/2022 23:12

Mets - say

howdoesatoastermaketoast · 03/07/2022 18:20

I got taught it as Meh - zay

from a guy who was born in Iran and now lived in England running a Greek restaurant. Pronunciation probably does vary a bit depending on which bit of the med someone is from but that's generally seemed close enough.

mrsm43s · 03/07/2022 18:35

I'd say meh-zay.

I'm interested that several people have put a t in it! I wonder if that's a regional dialect depending on which country the mezze is from/valid alternative, or whether it's just a common mispronunciation like when people put a t sound in chorizo.

bishbashboshhhhh · 03/07/2022 18:38

Whilst pronunciation is probably important I think we also need to know what is in the mezze 😋

PlanetNormal · 03/07/2022 18:39

Buf-fay.

DiamanteDelia · 03/07/2022 18:40

Definitely no T. I think people add one because they’re thinking of Italian.

😂
Hopefully some yummy fresh flat bread, lahmacun, a nice Greek salad, some fruit, some grapes and water melon, spicy sausage......as you can tell I don't care for sticking to one countries food!! What would you have?

Testina · 03/07/2022 22:27

Meh-zay, but I have to mentally over ride my urge to day met-zay.

This. My first thought was met-zay because it’s Italian for middle.
