What could or should have happened in this situation?

We visited a large university city and ate at an Italian restaurant. We had booked and were invited to dine in a room at the rear as it was quieter. A table of 6 arrived (4 males, 2 females) and two of the males were loud. The waitress struggled to hear our order and the wine waitress also. Both apologised but repeatedly said there was nothing they could do. The food was great but the ambience was not!
We declined a dessert and did not leave a gratuity. We felt very sorry for the table of four seated next to them who appeared to be heads down eating and no conversation.

Well I suppose either one of your party or someone from the management could have asked the men to lower the volume of their voices.

Might have worked. Very bad luck though for all of you 😧.

Can't believe you didn't leave a tip even though the staff were good!

Were these two loud males under 3?

HaywardGrey · 02/07/2022 20:22

The loud males were around 30 yrs full of themselves. The other four of their party were able to converse without drowning out everyone else in the room.

Was there another table you could’ve moved to? Or was that what the waitresses meant when they said they couldn’t do anything?

squashyhat · 02/07/2022 20:31

Why didn't you ask to move?

Wombat100 · 02/07/2022 21:08

I would’ve just asked the two blokes to keep the noise down.
