I've learnt that liquorice is in fact a plant. (And lots about the history of Pontefract and its castle)

Anyone else learnt something random?

That tandoori oil bushed onto corn on the cob then grilled is bloody lovely ( but perhaps not the answer you were looking for)😁

Nice food is always worthwhile!

Agreed and I feel particularly good as I would ( like most sane people ) normally have about half a pound of best butter on it but I fancied something different, though it has got me thinking how to make tandoori butter !

That beeswax doesn't melt in a microwave - as there's no water content. To be fair I've never really thought how microwaves work before. Probably obvious to others!

The inventor of HP sauce was a marketing whizz. He invented a condiment and told people it was eaten in the cafe at the Houses of Parliament to get them to buy it.

It possibly now is!

That coral isn't a plant but hundreds of thousands of tiny animals. And that you can make a nice mousse out of avacado, chocolate spread and chocolate powder.

I was talking to a friend last year about different brown sauces and she asked why HP was so called , when I said it was because it was named after the Houses of parliament she point black refused to believe me even after showing her a picture of a bottle with the building on it .

That the HP in HP Sauce stands for Houses of Parliament!!

How do you make tandoori oil?

Find a good indian grocer www.townmarkets.co.uk/shop/product?id=21 this is mine
mix about 2/3 table spoons of tandoori powder with bog standard veg oil roughly 1 to 5 ratio ( I add a bit of chilli powder too ) #
Allow to stand for as long as possible mine is about 2 months old but it will work fine after 24 hrs ,
half cook the meat or veg then paint the oil on and grill / bbq / fry hot .
only use the oil not the base powder or it will be gritty ( personally i like the grity texture but its not to everyone's taste)
