Feeling emotional after compliment from boss

I am due to retire in the next few years - I have always got on well with my boss - he is younger than my children. He is a really nice young man. He has always been fair and trusts me to do my job. He has had a promotion and is moving to a different part of the country. His last day today - he called me to his office just before he left - said he had loved working with me and said don’t forget how amazing you are. It just seems so long since I have had a genuine heartfelt compliment - everyone sad he is going but I would feel daft saying to my work friends how touched I was - i think it just triggered memories of my late husband and his lovely comments to me. I am being a daft old bat tonight!

Ahh that's lovely, a nice way for you to remember him too.

Oh OP nothing daft about that! He sounds a lovely boss, and you obviously had a mutual respect and great working relationship.
Relish the compliment- it's a good feeling and we need more positivity in our lives!

Ahhh I felt emotional reading that. You both sound like wonderful and kind souls. Hold his words and know he meant them.
