Has everyone got their £150 council tax money yet ?

My mum is worried she has not had any of the money that the government is talking about .

All of her friends have had this £150.

Should I wait a bit or start chasing it up ?

What does it say on her particular council website? For my area there was a date on when it started and by when everyone should have received.

I feel like if it's not been received yet then they need chasing up though?

Is she band a-d or a bigger house? Only band a-d got this 150.

XenoBitch · 01/07/2022 22:03

I had mine later than others as I don't pay by DD.
The people that I know who are still waiting are on council tax benefits.

myuterusistryingtokillme · 01/07/2022 22:08

Yep, but I was royally fucked off that they contacted my husband because the account we pay our DD from is a joint account, and they wanted to pay it to him so they needed a new account to pay it into which was just in his name (never mind that both our names are on the council tax, and I set it all up 🤬)

MovinOnUp · 01/07/2022 22:09

In my council they just took £150 off the total bill making the DD only very slightly less per month.
Check the statement first just in case it's the same for your Mum.

PinkButtercups · 01/07/2022 22:15

Yes I got mine in May but have always paid by DD.

Our local council said for those who don't pay by DD should expect it by September.

I had to put a claim in as they said they 'couldn't verify my details' - despite them managing to continue taking my direct debit 🤔. It took ages for it to come through, I only got it this week. The claim process was online.

Central government have instructed local authorities to just knock it off the bill / refund it for anyone paying council tax by dd.
However I know of one authority (Barrow) who are making everyone apply for it(!).

Meanwhile... Those who don't pay council tax as exempt because of disability of other reason won't be captured in that automatic scheme so will need to find out from their LA how to get it. Ditto those who don't pay by DD.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 01/07/2022 22:30

We got it direct into Dh bank account - despite me paying it, in full, on my credit card. 🤬🤬🤬🤬 We are both on the bill.

As we aren’t dd, DH (we) had a letter with a code attached, to verify it was our address and input his bank details into which the payment had to be made. All via the council website. 28 days later DH had a text saying it had been authorised and the payment was done later the same day. All done in June.
