Can anyone help me identify my 2 year olds rash?

Picture attached.

My 2 year old developed a rash last Friday. The nursery rang me to tell me about it and they advised I see a pharmacist to see what it could be - I took her that same day and they said it's definitely not ring worm but it is fungal and gave me some cream for it. I've been used the cream 2/3 times a day since last Friday and it has not done anything for it whatsoever.

The picture I've attached was taken last Friday but since then it has got worse. It's not hurting or irritating her and she does not itch it. Nor when I touch it does she tell me it hurts but it's gotten very red now. It doesn't look like ringworm to me but then I am not a doctor. It has got slightly bigger in size though.

I am wondering what it could be? Has anyone else experienced anything similar with their little ones?

I've tried to get into the doctors 3 days in a row now but can not get her an appointment for the life of me!

Thanks in advance.

Looks like
Ezcema to me.
Have
You tried hydrocortisone to help bring the rash down ?

MammaWeasel · 30/06/2022 20:30

In that area, it could be the start of thrush?

Eczema can come up in round patches like that, I think it’s called discoid eczema.
Or, looking at where it is, could she have sat in /on something that’s given her a reaction?

TheTeddyBears · 30/06/2022 23:22

Looks like eczema. If ur struggling to get go appointment I'd try childs farm. The prescription stuff was always rubbish but steroid creams were good to clear it if it was very bad. I don't think it looks too bad I'd try the moisturiser for a week unless it gets worse.

I use Childs farm moisturiser for both my girls that have eczema it works really well. Just put it on the areas morning and night and it should help.

EdenSandwich · 30/06/2022 23:29

It might be eczema, however if it's fungal, cream needs to be applied for two weeks (even once the rash has gone). I would keep using the cream for another week

Identical to my dcs same place, eczema.
This was after 2 days of steriod! It clears after 5, then the tiniest thing causes a flare again.
Id say the skin is only ever 'good' 3 days a month.
Its a battle

Whiskeypowers · 01/07/2022 12:46

Careful with any over the counter stuff with this
If I recall correctly e45 contains lanolin which can exacerbate the eczema if it is that. Also child’s farm makes my youngest a skin worse, so it’s not a case of all these things being suitable for every child.

you could try oat baths and colloids oat cream which doesn’t contain lanolin asa moisturiser or ask your pharmacist for a lanolin free cream. Think diprobase is one?

you really need a steroid cream from your GP or nurse prescriber to tackle it if is eczema

This is it now. It is quite dry in flesh.

It's hardly there in the morning but then gets worse throughout the day then nearly gone again by morning.

Will try hydrocortisone after bath tonight and see how she gets on with that.

I've used Childs farm in the past and that does make her skin worse as she does suffer with eczema on her arms and back but not this bad. Aveeno is normally quite good for her eczema too.

Thanks everyone for your replies! I'm just so grateful it's not bothering her at all!
