I’ve been self employed a long time so I don’t know if that’s good or standard?

legal is 4 weeks 20 days

I had 29 days plus bank holidays and an extra xmas time day

The minimum is 20 days plus bank holidays so it’s a week more than that. It’s standard for private sector.

That’s very standard, bank hols are normally 8 but some years there’s more.

So for a standard Mon-Fri week job it’s 6 weeks, 3 days.

I’m in HE so we get a lot more, over 40 days depending on service.

If it’s an office based job I’d just forget about the bank holidays. I don’t really see them as holidays as I obviously get no say on when they are. So 25 days is 5 weeks holiday a year for you to take as you want.

depends tho, the office i work in is open on bank holidays so those get added to our annual leave total and can be taken whenever we want and we work on the bank holidays exc christmas day, boxing day and new years day so these are taken off of us at the beginning of the year

Thank you everyone.

That's pretty standard to good for everywhere I've worked. If you work in a regular environment where the office is closed on bank holidays, they're just specifying that those days do not count towards your holiday allocation. if you work in, for example, a shop, it may be that the bank holidays are then added on as days in lieu or you're paid extra if you work on a bank holiday.

I work part time though the office is closed on BHs - if it's a Monday BH I have to take 1/2 a day's hours worth of AL off my total as I only work Monday morning, and for Good Friday I don't have to take any hours off as I don't work Fridays, so it kind of matters for people like me.
