How to stop a neighbourhood cat peeing on front door

Several times recently we have discovered cat pee down our front door and on the mat. Any ideas how to stop it?

We have a dog ourselves but no cat. There are several cats around us but I don’t know who the culprit is. Definitely a cat (not in UK, no other mammals possible and it stinks like cat pee).

It’s really grim and is making the house smell too. All suggestions welcome!

Make a solution of capsicum powder in water, and paint it onto your door. Then get a citronella candle, dig out some wax, and spread it in a narrow line across your doorstep.

My first thought was fox, its what they do. Are you sure you don't have those in your area?

Otherwise get one of those enzyme pet cleaning sprays as it also gets rid of the underlying smells that will stop a territorial animal from coming back to mark its territory. Bleach won't get rid of that.

Thanks all. Some ideas to try out here.

@Pixiedust1234 no foxes in this country; it’s definitely a cat!
