Cellulite - is it still a thing?

When I was a teenager /early twenties in the late 90's earlier 00's cellulite was a big thing, there was article after article in , it seemed , all the women's magazines. They not only suggested weird and wonderful ways to get rid of it, but they also had pictures of celebrities with their cellulite highlighted.

I am not aware of it being talked about nowadays and I don't see any products heavily marketed at curing it. Do any of you use cellulite products? Is it a problem you suffer from?

I think it's become less of a 'thing' because most women have it and it's pretty normal.

My arse is like a gargantuan lumpy cauliflower cheese defo still a thing for me

But you are right, it used to be in all the magazines and 'slebs' used to be really dragged through the dirt over having cellulite. I think there was quite a bit of backlash in the following years, a precursor to the current body positivity vibe we have now.
I'm glad the magazines that used to berate women for having imperfect bodies have now mostly folded, I think they did quite a bit of damage to an entire generation (my generation).

I think it’s just more accepted now, and also covered up with better fake tanning.

I remember those days. Ugh. Now its all just ✨️normal✨️ FUPAs, vpl's, love handles, cankles, stretch marks and the rest are seen everywhere and its all perfectly normal. I wish I'd grown up in this era. Wouldn't have nearly died of heatstroke from wearing polos and long sleeves in summer!

Yes, it is very much alive and well and living in my body.

Mabelshouse · 29/06/2022 22:13

It's definitely a thing for me!! I do have a massage thingy and some cream from Avon which is supposed to get rid of it but I can't say I've noticed much difference!

I see a lot of girls walking round with shorts on now and not bothered about it, which is great, but I notice it because, as you say, it was such a big thing in my day and girls wouldn't have worn things that showed it. I'm very glad things have changed. Hopefully in future that will be the norm and no one will even notice it.
