Bonjour 🥖🥖

I’ve been offered the chance to go to a work trip to Lyon in France - it’s somewhere I’ve never been before so am wondering if anyone has been before? What’s been your experience?

I could tack on a couple of nights after the work event if it’s worthwhile to see the sights etc but have no idea which neighbourhoods are nice or if I should avoid certain areas.

Any pointers would be amazing🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷

Lyon is amazing! We went in April and having done many European cities we put this near the top! Built by the Romans to be a second Rome there is wonderful architecture, the merchant houses along the broad river Saône are Italianate in colour-think ochre, yellow etc( boat trips on river too)
old Lyon is full of cobbled streets and the restarts famous for ( bouchons-little traditional restaurants) and the basilica above the city is worth the walk( there is a funicular) amphi theatre at the top too.We felt very safe and walked everywhere-look out for the wall murals too.I know France well but Lyon is a unknown gem!
you can tell I love it-do stay and visit!

Ohhh thank you @Meduse you’ve really painted a lovely picture😀

Anyone know where a good area of the city to stay would be? Mid range budget so don’t have to be too far out and it’ll be October time.
