Do tiles look okay with an upstand?

I have a wooden worktop with a matching upstand. If I put some white metro tiles on top - will it look okay?

It’s personal choice of course. I don’t like an upstand with tiles, but then I don’t like metro tiles either.

Try it and see if you like it.

I don't know. I didn't even know upstands even existed untill shopping for worktops

I agree with bluevelvet.
If I had to sacrifice one or the other, I'd sacrifice the tiles as the upstand gives a good sealed-in finishing line at the back of worktop. Looks much better than a line of sealant.
If there are wall cupboard above, there's only 18 inches of wall between anyway.
