Bf baby sleeping through and periods

My 5 month old baby has slept through the night for the past 3 nights. She slept 11-8.
Today I started feeling incredibly tired, flat and crampy. It felt like my period was coming.

No sign yet but am wondering how normal it is to get your period while still breastfeeding? My last child never slept through and I did get my period until I stopped breastfeeding.

My baby slept through most nights for a few weeks when she was 8 months. My period returned. She then started night wakings again and didn’t sleep through until she was 3!😭

It seems to vary so much OP. Some momen get their periods back reasonably quickly, even if their babies are still feeding during the night. Others will be much longer, even if their babies have stopped feeding in the night. My personal experience was that my periods returned at about the 12 month mark with all 4 of my babies. They were all still BF at that point, but only two were still feeding at night regularly.

It's very varied OP. My first my period returned when DC was 11 months. With my second who still bf through the night my period came back after 4 months.

My baby was doing the odd night here and there sleeping through but at 3 months I got my period anyway. That was annoying. Also be aware you can be pregnant while breastfeeding, even without having had a period so maybe check if you have any tests lying around

I breastfed my now teen for eight months. My period started back only two months after he was born. I basically only skipped one period post partum. He slept through from around ten weeks.

My last baby fed very regularly and never slept through. I got my period a week after I quit feeding her at 1. This baby isn't as addicted to me as the other. I've felt really weak and periody today. No sign of anything. Hormones!!

When dd2 was 4 months old she went 4 hours, next night 4.5 and the following 5 hours between feeds. She then went back to feeding every 3 hours from start of feed to the next but my periods retuned two weeks later.

Mine came back ages before I stopped breast feeding. Maybe when my babies were 4/5 months.
