What is your current job?

Are you happy with your position?

I run my own dog-walking business and it's my dream job. I love it.

Allthegoodnamesaregoneffs · 27/06/2022 18:12

Benefit fraud investigator, and I love it

tellittotherubberduck · 27/06/2022 18:13

I'm a software engineer working in a tech consultancy. I love it.

I switched careers in my early forties and regularly pinch myself that I get to do this for a living. I honestly can't think of anything I would want to do more.

applecharlotte12 · 27/06/2022 18:14

I'm a careers consultant at a university 3 days a week and an office manager at a small business 1.5 days a week. First role is meaningful and challenging work. Second role is low stress and better paid! Overall, they are a good balance for me and fulfil different needs.

devildeepbluesea · 27/06/2022 18:16

Head of HR in a part of the civil service. I’d love my job in a different department but this current one is dysfunctional and understaffed.

itsgettingweird · 27/06/2022 18:17

Pastoral support for behaviour and mental health within special education.

I love my job. I get to meet amazing pupils and amazing school staff who want the best for the pupils and help support them.

Paramedic.

Love the job, hate the current, dire situation we are in.
Failing patients left, right and centre through no fault of our own.
Currently on my 7th hour of being held outside an ED as no beds.
There are 8 other ambulances here.

Our patient is stable, but needs an urgent MH assessment and is extremely vulnerable and we have to complete a safeguarding referral for them. They have slipped so far through the net that they are at risk of serious injury/harm.
We literally tried every number prior to our reluctant trip here, anything to avoid ED as we know how bad it is.

The succession of shit show governments are responsible for this shit show right now.
No end in sight either.

Still, we smile, do our job the best that we can and carry on.

allthewaytobeano · 27/06/2022 18:29

Counsellor/Pyschotherapist for Childen and Young People.

Absolutely love it.

Love it even more now I'm freelance as I was close to burnout when I did it as a school employee.

My DD was bluelighted to hospital after she was seriously injured horseriding. Paramedics were absolutely amazing with her (she was only 7 at the time).

Thank you for all you do.

Early Years assistant in a school, part time. Also do exam invigilating in senior schools.

I do like both jobs, wouldn’t say either of them are my dream job though!

GoldPig · 27/06/2022 18:34

Project manager for a local authority. Decent pay, conditions, and colleagues. Mostly WFH. But I don’t like the role. It’s boring and stressful! I don’t feel proficient although I get positive feedback. I fantasise about lottery wins, retirement, a more junior role for an easy life or a more challenging role for the stimulation. I need to find my ‘thing’ but I’m well into middle age.

Knuddlebär9 · 27/06/2022 18:37

Admin manager at a Uni - thinking of applying for student support. Like my current job but is a bit dry and too many spreadsheets! Experience of SS but only been in new role 6 months so dithering

Tallulasdancingshoes · 27/06/2022 19:03

Secondary school joint head of department (part-time). Love the kids, hate the job. Want to leave, but trapped. Jealous of other peoples jobs.

mamaduckbone · 27/06/2022 22:42

Assistant head of a primary school.
I love the kids and the teaching, but hate all the other crap and the lack of funding is depressing beyond belief.

TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 27/06/2022 22:46

Payroll manager within the NHS.

Absolutely exhausted and burnt out and considering jacking it all in to go rescue kittens in Spain.

How did you get into this job- I would love to do this. Currently a benefits advisor !

Ledkr · 27/06/2022 23:20

Pastoral and safeguarding lead in primary.
I was a social.worker but got serious burn out after 22 years in the job.

Lacedwithgrace · 27/06/2022 23:22

I'm my husband's PA, I love it. It fits my life and health perfectly. Flexible but still a good routine

MagicalMystery11 · 27/06/2022 23:23

Primary school teacher.

I enjoy some aspects of the job but it can be draining. Although I think I had more energy for it before having my own children. Can't imagine doing teaching primary in my 60s.

stoptheride · 27/06/2022 23:25

I'm a back end website developer for a high level end ex company for women. I love my job and the support we give female NED 🙌 I work from home and totally flexible around my parenting duties. I earned my stripes in the corporate world many years back before children.

Defender90 · 27/06/2022 23:27

Accounts and customer service for a freight company.

Love it.

Cloudy18 · 28/06/2022 08:05

I’m a marketing manager at an agency. I do love the job as a whole but it can be very stressful at times.

WhenDovesFly · 28/06/2022 08:08

Funeral arranger and it's very rewarding, I love doing it. Better pay would be nice though.

Firstsitdowntoday · 28/06/2022 08:33

Financial assessment officer working how much people have to pay towards their care fees. We have a good team and in general I like the job. But the general public can be horrible sometimes, you see both the best and the worst of people.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 28/06/2022 09:45

I'm in nuclear engineering. It's very interesting, the pay is pretty good and I really enjoy it. Nerd, working with fellow nerds - great!
