That whoosh of hot air coming off of the plane- I'm so excited.

I've never really been a big 'must go on holiday' person, but we've not been anywhere in the last 5 years and I'm suddenly very excited!

Love that feeling! It's such a great feeling, knowing you are somewhere hot and sunny 🌞 Enjoy op!

CraftyBugger · 27/06/2022 15:36

I was really looking forward to that feeling too after not having a summer holiday in 3 years. But they put an air bridge up to the plane rather than walking down to a waiting bus. Didn't get the same effect so I was slightly disappointed.

oooohimexcited · 27/06/2022 15:39

What a pity. Although I always get a bit wobbly on the rickety steps!

You can get that when you walk into the hospital where I work. Unfortunately it's not as exciting!

restedbutexhausted · 27/06/2022 15:46

A great feeling! I also love that smell you get coming off the plane in the med...maybe it's olive trees? 🤷🏼‍♀️

MaJoady · 27/06/2022 15:48

Oh yes, and the smell of hot tarmac!

Enjoy your holiday!

WatermelonSugarSigh · 27/06/2022 15:51

Ah have a lovely holiday OP ☀️

I remember going to Crete when I was about 9 or so and first experiencing that hot 'whoosh' of air, you've brought back memories of a great holiday!

oooohimexcited · 27/06/2022 15:57

Yes, that holiday smell!

I get this feeling when I come out of Aldi on a sunny day Grin

Snuffy28 · 27/06/2022 16:29

It's so exhilarating ! Have a great time.

JuneJubilee · 27/06/2022 16:31

@oooohimexcited

oh go on then... make us well Jel... where are you?? (Or where are you going?)

StrangeCondition · 27/06/2022 16:33

Normally I enjoy this but after getting off a plane in Doha and it being 43 degrees at 7 in the morning, and standing on the tarmac waiting for the bus for 10 minutes, it was not quite as nice Grin

Agree. When to Crete when I was about 12. Landed at night. Walking out of the plane door and down the staircase, felt like someone had opened an oven door!

Holiday smell is the best 😍😍😍

I was just about to say the same thing 😂

FasterthanBolt · 27/06/2022 16:46

We are going on holiday next week and my son said exactly the same thing! ?He loves the whoosh!

SoupDragon · 27/06/2022 16:48

I was gutted when they built a new import complete with air bridges at my regular holiday destination. You used to have to walk across the tarmac to the building and it was just like you say. Whoosh!

shivbo2014 · 27/06/2022 16:58

Oh you're making me excited we go to Lindos in Rhodes in 45 days 4hrs and 43mins I cannot wait. Have a nice holiday!

PinkButtercups · 27/06/2022 17:03

I once stupidly wore jeans because it was cold and raining here in England. That hot air smacked me in the face and the coach transfer had no air con. I was sweating like a bitch by the time we got to our hotel 🤣.

BashfulClam · 27/06/2022 17:10

I remember being unwell abroad due to the heat (40c and I’m Scottish lol) and I remember dreaming the whole journey home of the cool air on my face. I was over that after 5 minutes lol.

DH does that, jeans and a hoody. He was melting last time and I said ‘take off your hoody fgs!’ He said ‘I can’t I haven’t got a t shirt on!’

Gherkingreen · 27/06/2022 17:16

I lived in a very hot place for a few years. All I craved was the fresh green rainy smell of England and the damp cooling drizzle of the North West on my cheeks when I flew home. It did not disappoint 😁

Babdoc · 27/06/2022 17:18

Ha, I’m the reverse. I remember dancing for joy in the freezing rain on the tarmac at Edinburgh airport, after getting home from blisteringly hot (100F) North Africa in July, back in the 1990s!
But yes, that smell of warm herbs and aviation fuel is very evocative at Mediterranean airports, isn’t it. Best enjoyed out of peak summer season though, for cold climate adapted northerners like me.

MissCalamity · 27/06/2022 17:48

I'm so looking forward to this, 56 days to go 🙄🤣
