Would you bother a doctor with this?

I've had a sore in my nose for about 5 weeks. It's really painful and I can even feel it when I'm speaking

Not sure why it's there as I haven't blown my nose excessively or had any colds

What could it be? I did ask pharmacy but they won't advise me due to it being so long with it

I am okay to ask GP?

If it's bothering you, ask. Even a phone appointment would be a start.

Of course. Phone your gp.

My DS had this recently
Some people harbour Staphylococcus Aureus in their nostrils
His sore came through to the skin on his nose and was very sore
He was prescribed Antibiotic nasal cream which cleared it up in a few days so do contact your GP, it's very common

Yes!
HCP here. I see a lot of skin cancer or skin cancer-like facial lesions . Get it check out.

Sorry, read on nose, not in. Still get checked out.

Could be a nasty coldsore? I get cold sores in my nose. They take ages to heal and you can feel them when you speak and when you move your face, and are really bloody sore.

boobybum · 27/06/2022 13:23

Could it be a cold sore? I’ve had these up my nose before and they seem to last longer than those on your mouth but I’m not sure I’ve ever had one lasting as long as yours.

freetotheboom · 27/06/2022 13:26

Thank you

I have never had a cold sore before

See your GP. Wounds that won't heal can be a sign of many things. The sooner you go, the better.
