When would you go back to work?

In the past I've always been a drag yourself to work, if that's really not possible get back ASAP type of person.

Now in middle age, I find my attitude has changed completely. I now recognise that rest and taking care of myself are important. I'm not sure if that's because I've got more sensible or more lazy! Or because my body does indeed need a bit more TLC than it used to.

Anyway, I've had Covid. Really unwell last week, no question of me working, even from home, I could barely stay awake. Now I'm much improved in myself, but I still have a barking cough, sore throat, runny nose, very tired and achy, breathless walking upstairs (and I ran a half marathon 2 weeks ago, stairs aren't usually a problem!).

I don't feel ready to go back, but there are various other reasons I'm not keen to return, so maybe I'm making excuses? I'll need a doctor's certificate after today.

How close are you to retirement?

Yes, that is an issue. It's hard to motivate yourself when retirement is in sight, but it's too far away to be the answer now.

I am actually ill though!
