Has anyone travelled recently with an e-cig in their hand luggage? Was it an issue?

Just wondering whether it might be a problem. Online searching seems to drum up various responses from perfectly fine to no because of the pressure risk(?)

If it helps the airport is Heathrow and it's one of those disposable e-cigs i.e. no liquid vape kit.

My colleague flies regularly for work and she was told to keep them in her hand luggage (Elf Bars if it makes a difference.)

I don't have one but I flew recently and was told (repeatedly) that they must be in hand lugguage. Be aware too that some destinations have banned them. EG you cannot take them into Mexico at all.

I've had mine in my hand luggage several times, last time at the start of the month, no issues at all.

Hand luggage.

Thanks all. I probably should be more concerned about the chaos with luggage at heathrow but my e-cig is first priority!!

I looked into this and everything I read says it’s fine to take them, provided they are in hand luggage. I’ve also read they are banned in Mexico, which is exactly where we’re going. I’d have booked somewhere else if I’d known. Tbh I’m minded to risk it and plead ignorance, it will really put a dampener on the holiday not having it.

I went to Singapore where they are banned - I was on a three day stop over. I switched to Juul and carried them and the liquid cartridges separately - the battery bits were in a pencil case so they looked a bit like usb sticks. Had to do without vaping when travelling but I used patches and an inhalator for that. Didn’t have any problems (and vaped v discreetly in Singapore!).

I've flown twice in the last month with a vape in my hand luggage, had no issues at all.

Flew in May. DH had his, no issues with the batteries or liquids as they were under 100ml
